Samuel Emmet Taylor

Samuel Emmet Taylor, 86, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2019, at his home in Naples, Fla. Sam was born August 24, 1933, in Pittsburgh and grew up in Brownsville.

Sam enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1953 and met his wife, Barbara Jean Garred. They were married December 27, 1954, and were stationed at Quonset Point Naval Air Station in Rhode Island.

In 1957, Sam took over as president of the Brownsville and California water companies and in 1965 started his own company, Management Utility Services. Sam enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved camping, skiing, gardening and most of all, Pittsburgh sports.

Sam is survived by his wife, Barbara; son Samuel (Mary Ann) Taylor; daughters Veronica Taylor and Gretchen Carroll; grandchildren Erika Vardaxis, Dana Taylor, Sarah Carroll and Abby Carroll.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents and younger siblings, David Taylor and Ann Taylor Nelson.

A Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 9, at San Marco Catholic Church, Marco Island, Fla. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 10, at The Arlington, Naples, Fla. In lieu of flowers, tributes may be made to the Alzheimer's Association,
