Capitalism beats socialism

Community suffers losses Dear Editor:

Just a reminder to everybody not to lose sight of the importance of the people we take for granted.

New Salem at Halloween will never be the same. Mr. D’Amico won’t be on his porch greeting children and adults. Lenny Tolnai won’t be making the rounds with his wife, Cindy, and their two beautiful children. Johanna Rice won’t be making the rounds with our combined crew and me. We have lost so many people in New Salem recently but especially young people like these and Scotty Vrabel and Crystal Bobish and her parents and countless others.

Our safe, familiar community is a much lonelier place with the losses we’ve endured. May God keep them in his care.
