Overwhelmed by fans support

3 min read

Hasn’t Kasunic paid attention? After reading an article printed in the Herald-Standard on Nov. 22, 2002, I was very disappointed that it indicated state Sen. Richard Kasunic and state Rep. Larry Roberts have no intentions of doing anything to get the deed restrictions lifted on the amphitheater property.

Is it true, as indicated in this article, that Kasunic says the reason for not sponsoring legislation is that he knows nothing about this project? How could anyone not know details relating to the amphitheater project with all the newspaper articles, radio programs and the public forum held at the Uniontown Holiday Inn?

The public forum was a perfect opportunity to obtain information from Fayette Films, L.L.C. regarding their plans for the amphitheater. I was there. Jason Thomas, president of the company, was there answering questions from those supporting and opposing the project, and I must say the positive supporters greatly out-numbered the negative supporters.

My husband and I had the opportunity to meet with Mr. Jason Thomas and Mrs. Doris Keating-Schlessinger. We found them to be high-caliber, successful business people with sincere interest in investing in the amphitheater and possibly downtown Uniontown. Their film production company locating here in Fayette County could mean millions of dollars to our economy and hundreds of jobs.

Mr. Thomas stated they are union-friendly, which means good-paying jobs for our residents. The type of business and entertainment they plan to bring here means a tremendous boost to our economy and tourism.

Please take the initiative in the near future to gather the information you need to introduce legislation. In order for you to obtain that information from Fayette Films, L.L.C., they need to be present at all scheduled meetings in the future.

They have never been invited to attend these meetings in the past, so how can they inform you of their intentions? Unlike the thoughts of those from Fort Necessity and others, from what I see, Fayette Films has no intentions of disturbing any part of the history that Fort Necessity represents.

Fort Necessity is important to us all, and I certainly would not support this project if I believed otherwise. Along with this letter, you will find many signatures of those in support of the amphitheater project that only took me two short business days to get. If you truly care for the area you represent and the economy and future of Fayette County, you will reconsider your approach taken to lift the deed restrictions on the amphitheater site. Thank you for your time, and I would appreciate a response.

Can’t understand why DeWeese upset

I cannot understand why Rep. H. William DeWeese could possibly be upset by newspapers and Pennsylvania taxpayers questioning his honesty or integrity.

Maybe it could be that he and his colleagues vote themselves hefty pay raises and other perks in the middle of the night or maybe it’s the WAMS, AKA bribe money, which they use. Or maybe it’s political patronage jobs in PennDOT or any Pennsylvania bureaucracy. Or maybe it’s the people in Pennsylvania who are tired of getting ripped off by out-of-touch royalty in Harrisburg who seem to forget who pays for their lavish lifestyle and who do nothing to improve this state.

Talk about taxation without representation, look in the mirror, Mr. DeWeese. You bureaucrats don’t know what honesty or integrity means.

Thanks, Herald-Standard, the lawsuit against you told the truth, and Mr. DeWeese can’t handle the truth.

Please retire Mr. DeWeese, no one will miss you,

David Gardner
