What will it take?

4 min read

In the days immediately following 9-11, many people turned their thoughts to God and flocked to churches for prayer. This God-consciousness lasted only a short time before an air of complacency returned and, sadly, church buildings returned to their former half-empty state and Americans resumed their everyday activities, once again forgetting God’s existence. Abortion clinics continue to thrive in the name of women’s rights, unmarried couples cohabit, homosexual relationships resume, people sit in darkened movie theaters or in front of television sets being entertained by every imaginable sort of perversion and debauchery. The wheels of government move along in a seemingly relentless pursuit of “freedom of immorality.” They’re talking about removing “under God” from the pledge, and they’re debating the elimination of chaplains from Congress, while the ACLU marches ever onward in its dedicated mission to remove all vestiges of godliness from our country, including the Ten Commandments.

What has happened to America? Why can’t we grasp what our founding fathers knew 200 years ago, that a nation who ignores God cannot survive?

We go merrily along doing all the things that God, our Creator, has forbidden, then we sing “God Bless America” in times of crisis. What will it take to bring us to our senses – and to our knees? Will it be more terrorist attacks with even more devastating loss of life? If it happens, we have only ourselves to blame because we’ve gone our own way and have taken ourselves out from under God’s protective umbrella.

But there is hope. The Bible tells us that if we humble ourselves and seek God and repent and turn from our own way, then he will heal our land, and will cause even our enemies to be at peace with us. That’s the deal, folks, and it’s nonnegotiable.

I’ve written lyrics that can be sung to the tune of “God Bless America,” call “Bless God, America.” I’d be glad to share them with anyone who is interested. My e-mail address is jimpo@lcsys.net.

Rise of hypocrisy

Hypocrisy is on the increase like other evils in our land. There is cable promoting help in the classroom while swamping TV with violence, sex, obscenities, and other forms of immorality.

How about those ambulance-chasing attorneys, who would defend Satan, saying they will not charge a fee if I get no money for you? The Muslims who claim they are peaceful people while the Quran (their bible) preaches eradication of infidels. But note that many Muslims are unaware of what it does preach.

Beer commercials that display a life of happiness and fun galore, while in reality booze is our greatest social problem. Ever note a vehicle with a license plate with disability lettering while the driver walks briskly away.

TV religious shows that feature an evangelist prancing on the platform like a comedian.

Our beloved politicians who are so elated when they use our money for various projects, while at the same time voting to increase taxes, creating more unneeded agencies and giving more handouts to deadbeats.

The American flag being displayed on foreign vehicles while the profits made on them are sent overseas, making our dollar weaker. People who want the best for their children but have them play sports on Sunday mornings thereby depriving them of learning about our Lord and Savior in Sunday School and church.

The ACLU which states it wants to protect our rights but then attacks our religious rights and our Christian heritage. Foreign-born doctors who have become millionaires in the USA while millions of natives in their countries desperately need medical attention.

And the deceitful nation of Japan who honors us by building more plants in our nation and further destroying our economy.
