Honored for doing jobs
I am writing in regards to an article that I read concerning the Community Action presents awards published on Sunday, Oct. 13. I have a big problem with these individuals receiving these awards and recognition for helping the poor whenever all they are doing is their job that they are paid to do. What are these individuals doing above and beyond their duties?
Certainly Allegheny Power, Rep. Peter Daley, and Dr. Reilly receive a paycheck for the services.
The only people who receive assistance from any programs are the people who do not have two pennies to rub together. Can anyone explain to me why Allegheny Power, Peter Daley, and Dr. Reilly are not helping the poor working man?
Does Dr. Reilly offer a program to the people who are uninsured to receive medical treatment at a low or affordable cost? Does Allegheny Power offer any programs or assistance to the working man who is struggling when they are over the guidelines?
Rep. Daley, the people elected you to improve this county and it’s your duty to speak out for the people who elected you, including the poor person. Let’s not forget you also receive a paycheck.
Mr. Daley, explain to the people what you did that was above and beyond your duties that you were elected to perform? Discussing a matter just doesn’t cut it with me.
For the people who are not aware of the real facts about the poor and believe if that person is on welfare they receive numerous benefits, that is just not true.
If a person falls into hardship and their electric may be terminated and that person goes to seek assistance, they say you are making too much money and you do not meet our guidelines, or the program shut down because a lack of funds.
Guess what? Cough up the money or be terminated. What is sad is whenever a person tries to make a payment plan it is usually so high that he can’t afford it. The reality is there is no help for the poor or needy.
I have yet to see anyone bring quality employment to this area.
I have yet to see any programs that help the needy to accomplish a valuable living and living on their own independence.
I find it extremely appalling for you people to benefit from the poor, the disabled and the elderly people. It is obvious that these awards are given to certain people only for recognition, personal and political gain.
I hope you all cherish this award because it shows that you will use the poor, the disabled and the elderly to be recognized, whatever the cost may be, you will do it.
