A century of Hope

1 min read

Whoever first noted that only the good die young would have been the first to revise that theory when it came to Bob Hope. Two months after turning 100, Hope died Sunday night surrounded by his family. Gosh was he ever good at making us laugh. At times his jokes were corny, or as familiar as a long-time friend, but the good-natured, one-liners remained funny. Hope’s humor crossed all stages – vaudeville, radio, television and film – and cut across the globe as he traveled extensively bringing entertainment to American troops overseas. Hope was unique in that his brand of humor was always in fashion. But he was so much more. His compassion and charity were inspiring.

No matter how many times you watch one of his “Road” movies with Bing Crosby, you are certain to still break into a chuckle or two viewing them again.

Thanks for the memories.
