Triage of Brownsville Hospital
Being a former employee of Brownsville Hospital for 20 years, I agree that there did need to be a shake up. It was a good step in removing the management agency that ran the hospital. But one thing that was not done was a clean housekeeping of the board of directors. I will not name names, but some are as old as the building and also need replaced. If the hospital needs an influx of cash they better merge with someone before it is too late.
BGH has saved my mother’s life many times by just being there to stabilize her due to her heart condition so she could be transferred to Pittsburgh.
The employees of Brownsville Hospital are very overworked and understaffed and are the best close to home. They go out of their way to care for our family members, very understaffed and do the best job they can under the nursing shortage. They are being mandated to do 16-hour shifts; every day a nurse has to work overtime. Would you want your family being taken care of this way? Brownsville community, wake up before it is too late.

I enjoyed Mike Ellis’ commentary in Sunday’s (March 16) paper. Did anyone really believe Gov. Ed Rendell (Spend-dell) meant what he said? He’s just another big fish in the little lake, the fish that opens his mouth, gets caught every time – hook, line and stinker.
So William DeWeese still will get his $12 million plus to do with as he pleases. Raise taxes again, now what will they tax? Oh! Yes, he was going to help senior citizens with prescription drugs. He has more bull than Murphy’s cow.
Why not give him the tobacco money; he can sure blow enough smoke – no screen needed. This is sick. Line the big shots’ (yes I said shots) pockets with gold and they surely have the last laugh. Now we have (former Sen. William) Lincoln running for commissioner. Only Lincoln I knew who looked good was on a penny, and it’s worthless.
