In the wake of vandals

3 min read

On Oct. 17 some vandals smashed out windows in four or maybe five cars here in Uniontown. The people who did this have no respect for property or the law. This reflects directly on the parent(s). If they have any remorse they should come forward and take their punishment.

Let me tell you about one of the families that you hit.

The lady of the house is disabled and on a fixed income. She is 88 years old. The brick you threw at the window of the house destroyed a lamp. Her son is also disabled and only has liability on his car. It cost him $185 to replace his windshield. He cannot afford to replace his side window. The money he used was to pay his rent so they can have a roof over his head.

I sure hope you can sleep at night. Think of this one family who will not have a decent meal this Thanksgiving. I am sure you will have plenty to eat. Enjoy it while you can.

You will be punished, now or a couple of years down the road. Enjoy your holidays. They will not.

Shabby treatment?

One has to wonder why schools needed to be closed during the PGA tournament. I found it interesting to see school buses used at the tournament. And one has to wonder why in Mr. Hardy’s campaign he seems to be for the people of Fayette County and wants to create jobs for us when he hired security from another state?

Yet, the people of Fayette County were asked to “volunteer” their services. Were there no security people in Fayette County? I was one of the people who an employment agency asked to do some work for that security company, only because the out-of-state security company was not able to handle the job themselves. They were very well paid for the services, yet anyone the employment agency asked at the last minute to help was not as well paid as that company, and they were poorly treated.

I was left at the 15th hole with an instruction sheet that told me who to let in for the “complimentary” drinks and snacks. My instructions also said to contact security for backup if there was a problem I could not handle, and then they took off. Well, I did have a problem with fumes from a generator next to the Oasis and after nine hours of standing there without any breaks, I felt very ill from the fumes. Due to not having a radio that was to be provided at each post, I could not reach anyone for help.

When I notified Nemacolin Woodlands about the incident, they never even so much as replied back to me. I could have done a better job than this firm. So, why did Mr. Hardy feel compelled to pay all that money to people from another state when there are so many people in Fayette County without jobs, yet he expected people from Fayette County to be “volunteers.” Shutting down schools and hiring people from out of state does not, in my opinion, sound like a good commissioner. It seems more like money talks.
