Breadgate Excessive carbs can only lead to trouble

1 min read

It takes chutzpah. That’s what we were thinking upon reading the “Breadgate” story that was first published by The Philadelphia Daily News. Here you have state troopers – three of them – who possibly were ordered by a state police major to conduct a highway relay across 75 miles to deliver three boxes of freshly baked Italian bread from Hazelton to Hershey. No word on whether any speed limits were broken to ensure that the loaves arrived still warm from the oven. The senior officer denies the bread run, although some troopers complained to their superiors about being used in such a manner. And they should. Why it’s scandalous these days to be packing that many carbs. Besides, these are highly trained officers who should be out keeping our highways safe instead of contributing to the culinary delinquency of a major.
