Gracious in defeat
I just wanted to express my sincere gratitude to Sen. John F. Kerry for championing the cause of ordinary people and leading such a spirited presidential campaign. Moreover, he conceded the victory with such absolute courage, wisdom and grace. What a heart-wrenching and selfless decision he faced and dealt with nobly. As any true statesman would, he put the common good of the people before his personal ambitions. Indeed, he was a worthy opponent. This is the first time that any politician has moved me to tears, and I hold my head up to be counted as a Democrat.
Our country has been so bitterly divided. With President Bush as our leader again for a second term, I hope that he has listened and learned from his campaign experience. He really must put forth the effort to act as a great uniter; he’s got four more years to make good on that promise. The politics of fear must cease so that as a nation we can move forward and heal.
As for now, I am thankful to have witnessed the intelligence, sophistication and compassion of Senator Kerry. He will be my political hero for some time to come. I am not alone in feeling this sense of great loss for our country. But at least for a short while we held hope and vision within our grasp. May we find inspiration in moving toward peace, and my God bless Sen. Kerry and President Bush.

Bush voters will rue the day
Once again Americans have shown they are not the smartest people in the world. They have re-elected George W. Bush as president.
Perhaps those who voted for him enjoy a weak economy and perhaps they consider a poorly-run war the correct way to handle things.
The last four years have shown what a bumbling fool he is. He can’t even answer without that annoying laugh before he tries to respond. Yet once again he is given the opportunity to mess up our nation a little bit more. This shouldn’t take too long as we can’t possibly get much worse. You would think people would finally wake up and see where we’ve been for the last four years is not where we want to be. I am utterly amazed at what happened on Nov. 2 and I feel that those who re-elected this president are partly responsible for this country being in the deplorable shape it is in.
