What we’re up against
On the day after the American election, the London Daily Mirror used its entire front page to ask, “How can 59,054,087 people be so dumb?” David Gardner’s letter to the Herald Standard, Nov. 15th, is being forwarded to the editors of the Mirror. It won’t answer the “How can” part but it will provide an example of what we’re up against in this country. Marilyn Zsiros

Sad commentary
There are times when you read a letter you have a feeling you’ve heard it all before and you smile.
This was especially true of a letter written on Nov. 15th.
Although it was nasty and you knew it sure had nothing to do with anything related to the faith or love we learned, it still made you smile.
Democrats know we could make a list on the other side, but who needs to; some letter writers do it for us.
As a family with members of both political parties, we agree on this, when you read a letter and feel the soul of the words mostly bitter, angry and filled with hate, you know it has nothing to do with a political party.
It’s just a sad story written for all to see and you have to smile.

Many thanks
The officers and members of the American Legion Post 51, Auxiliary and S.A.L., District Commander Ron Duerring and County Commander Lou Giachetti, would like to thank all for making the annual Veterans Day Parade held in downtown Uniontown on Nov. 11th one of the most successful events.
Many thanks go out to all the many participants. The patriotic showing of all who participated and watched the parade showed a true spirit of patriotism.
Again, thanks to all for a good job, well done. Please continue to pray and support our troops in harm’s way for a safe and speedy return home to their loved ones.
