Turned off by talk of ‘hate’
As a registered Democrat for more than 45 years I am saddened to see what a once great party has degenerated into. The comments by Chris Heinz, that he really hated George Bush personally, is so pathetic. It is one thing to disagree with a person’s opinion, policies and politics, but to “hate” is another. Mr. Heinz has made me want to rethink if I really want to stay with a party that allows juvenile people to represent the party at a major function. Unfortunately, this is the way the liberal wing of the Democratic Party operates these days. From Sen. Harkens calling the president “a liar” about his National Guard service, based on memos that are now found to be frauds, to Ted Kennedy’s tirades and finally to Chris Heinz. All I hear is gutter talk from the reported leaders of the party.
I will remember this when our election takes place. I hope others will also. We need leaders in Congress who will debate problems and the ways to fix them. We don’t need hate, one upmanship or spending tax dollars on commissions for items that happened 30 years ago.
This is one Democrat that will vote for George W. Bush. The major reason is the lack of civility in what is the party I grew up with. That party no longer exists.

Heinz’s comments help Bush
This past Friday, Fayette County Democrats opened their local campaign headquarters for the upcoming presidential election.
Chris Heinz, a stepson of the party’s candidate, is quoted in your story of the event as saying he hates his stepfather’s opponent, President Bush.
Recent news articles attributed quotes to Heinz’s mother that have her labeling those skeptical of her husband’s health-care proposals as “idiots,” her detractors as “scum bags” and the people of the Pittsburgh area as “uneducated.”
If I were an undecided voter, hearing these disparaging comments from the haughty family members of the Democratic Party candidate would certainly sway my vote – in favor of our president.
