One more drug battle won
I would like to congratulate all the law enforcement agencies on their latest victory in “The War On Drugs.” District Attorney Nancy Vernon hit the nail on the head with her quote. I see or hear about it everyday. If you have teen-agers you will too. Now only if the court system will be just as dedicated in the war. Too many times dealers are given probation and are right back to selling again, usually even before their trial date. The follow-up by probation officers has a lot to be desired. I’ve seen this in my own family. After numerous phone calls and complaints, the answer is the same, “We’ll check it out,” but never do.
Maybe our laws aren’t strong enough, and sentencing guidelines should be addressed. Whatever the reason I hope the men doing all the legwork keep up the good work. We appreciate it.

Call to reduce compensation
Tax collectors and anyone with a little common sense would want the 3 percent commission reduced. I also believe tax collectors should be eliminated. I will invest in a stamp and send my taxes to the courthouse.
I now pay my taxes in person, and I have never seen my tax collector in the office. The young lady that collects the tax money is very pleasant, but I doubt she doesn’t do this task without getting paid. So I would then imagine that my tax collector gets paid enough to hire someone else to collect the taxes.
We don’t need 1,000 signatures, just a little common sense.
