Proof in the program
WQED presented a great program on Feb. 15. As a PBS channel, they performed an outstanding public service by showing the deterioration of Brownsville. For 15 years we have spent our working hours seeing and living with decay and rubble.
Mrs. Hess and I sincerely thank WQED (on Q Magazine). All of Brownsville should do likewise. We in Brownsville should know nothing will happen to our town until the key problem is eliminated – and you know who they are.
Grants are not the answer. Personal attention and legal aid is required. Human rights commissioner – Gov. Rendell, where are you?
I saw proof in the program. More folks remember the past but don’t see the present.

Intelligent design abounds
Can someone please help me understand?
We are supposed to be a Christian nation; the vast majority of our people claim to be Christian. We are also supposed to be a democracy and, according to Webster, that means the majority rules.
However, our country’s schools are teaching our children the theory of evolution.
I read in the Herald-Standard recently an article entitled, “‘Intelligent design: Flap enters primary election” that only one school district in this entire country requires that students also hear a statement about “intelligent design,” and currently that district is being sued by two so-called civil liberties groups who consider it unacceptable that our children might be given the idea that there is a God who created life.
If you were admiring a new house and asked the owner for the name of the builder and he said, “Nobody built it; it just happened,” you would consider him crazy. Yet how much more complex is our universe?
Everywhere you turn, you see intelligent design.
No wonder the Bible says that the fool has said in his heart that there is no God. Our country condones the bigotry that allows the theory of evolution, which has no factual foundation, to be taught exclusively, but ignores the scientific evidence that points to an intelligent design of life.
Yet in the aftermath of a terrorist attack, the multitudes pray and sing God Bless America.
I wonder how much longer God will continue to be patient. Read Bible history and be very afraid.
