President practices deceit
To all the moral people who voted for President Bush, how can you justify this illegal war in Iraq, started in violation of our Constitution. There were never any weapons of mass destruction found. This was a vendetta by President Bush to get Saddam Hussein and the result is that America is hated throughout the world, and innocent Iraqis and our soldiers are getting killed daily. The situation worsens everyday, but our president shows his concern by having his big inaugural celebration. The Republicans tried to impeach President Clinton when he lied, but now all is silent when this president lies. This is nothing but hypocrisy. This brings me to my second point of deceit by President Bush. He is making staged appearances and speeches, stating that Social Security is in a crisis and his proposed legislation of private accounts and reduced benefits for the younger generation will solve the problem. Well there is no crisis, and the long-term solution is for the federal government to stop raiding the Social Security Trust Fund, which it disguises as loans. With the record-setting deficits this president is running up, these loans will never be repaid.
The Social Security fund should be used only to pay benefits; the excess should be invested in moderate to conservative accounts by carefully selected money managers. The gains from these accounts would be reinvested or returned to the trust fund to pay future benefits. As a senior, this deceitful legislation is not going to affect me, but the younger generation better wake up and contact their congressmen and senators to defeat this legislation.
As you can surmise I am not a great fan of President Bush and I didn’t care for John Kerry either, although he might have been the lesser of two evils.
Had the majority of the Christian voters not been swayed by their church leaders, our so-called moral president may not have been elected. The church wants separation of church and state only when it benefits the church. Church leaders should stick to preaching the gospel and stay out of politics. The one good thing about Mr. Bush’s re-election is that he inherits the big mess he created.
