Sometimes in your darkest hour when all the light is gone, your faith and hope are hanging by a thread, and you don’t know if you can go on, something nice happens. Someone lets you know they care and are thinking of you. It is twice as nice when it is people from your hometown. I would like to take this time to thank Marlene Brown, R.N. and the Albert Gallatin Home Health Care staff (Masontown and Uniontown Office) for taking their time to care and think about some of the survivors of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.

Your kindness will never be forgotten. The donations you sent to me and my family was greatly appreciated.

God bless each and every one of you.

From the bottom of our hearts we thank you,

Dossie (Volansky) Mouton and family

Residents warned

To the people of Fairchance Borough and Georges Township,

Do you realize that the Fairchance Georges Sewage Authority is about to construct sewer lines in Georges Township and a few houses within the borough of Fairchance? They are planning to increase your sewage bills by approximately $10 to $15 a month so that they can put sewer lines in Georges Township.

This will not be of any value to the Borough of Fairchance. I believe that this is entirely wrong and is going to cost you an additional $120 to $150 annually if they do not get more federal or state funding.

If you also believe that this is wrong please contact your borough councilperson or the four members of the Fairchance Georges Sewage Authority who represent Fairchance borough. The contact information for these representatives can be received by contacting the Fairchance Borough Building at 724-564-9980, or myself at 724-564-4237.

Legislators questioned

Do our state legislators live in a mental “never, never land?” Reading our Rep. Roberts’ recent comments and now Sen. Joe Conti of Bucks County who can’t return his $5,000 unvouchered expense money because he spent it on a water heater are unbelievable. Surely he has some money in an account somewhere. What do they think the average worker or someone living on Social Security does when they need a water heater? Something is very, very wrong within Pennsylvania’s legislative body, and I feel that this self-serving, arrogant attitude is held by many members of this body. Otherwise, we would not have actions like the middle of the night votes.

When Pennsylvania residents vote in the future I hope they remember this self-serving, arrogant attitude. I know of no business that would tolerate such actions from an employee. And, after all, they are our employees.

Murtha criticized

I take issue with the Johnstown Tribune Democrat editorial on Sunday Nov. 20th which supports Murtha’s cut and run proposal for Iraq.

During World War II, the slogan that loose lips sink ships was a rule of thumb to avoid aiding the enemy with words that could hurt our people in harm’s way. Today’s slogan should be big mouths kill Marines.

Murtha’s Nov. 17th press conference announcing that the U.S. should withdraw our troops and negotiate with the terrorists played right into al-Qaida’s hand.

Murtha’s headline grabbing press conference was not a debate before Congress. It was a profoundly stupid political stunt that was immediately broadcast across the media networks of our enemies.

It is disgusting to watch Murtha parade his two Vietnam era Purple Hearts when it is convenient, but has never fully explained or provided witnesses as to how he earned these sacred honors. To the contrary, he has been quoted to no less than four different versions, citing wounds to his arms and legs suffered while under fire, while the official report states that he was treated for two minor lacerations on his face in March and May of 1967. Equally disturbing is why it took another 18 months before these medals were awarded just two weeks before his failed bid for Congress in 1968.

Murtha’s tendencies to be a show horse has served him well for 32 years, but this time it could kill Marines and start a bloody civil war in Iraq.
