Ambulance drivers go too fast

1 min read

As a parent I am fearful for my child safety due to the irresponsibility of drivers of a local ambulance service. I live near a local nursing home and am concerned about the driving habits of people who are supposed to be there for our safety. Many ambulance services go to and from this nursing home and most obey the traffic laws, but one service has drivers who seem to think they are above the law.

They continually run through the stop sign at high rates of speed with or without emergency lights, and sometimes in their “coach” vehicles.

What happened to, “Proceed past a red signal indication or stop sign, but only after slowing down as may be necessary for safe operation, except as provided in subsection …”?

There are many children, young children, in this neighborhood and I would hate to see any of them get hurt and seriously injured – or, worse yet, killed because some ambulance drivers think it is their right to drive however they want because of the vehicle they drive.
