Stop UASB spending insanity

2 min read

This is a letter concerning the Uniontown Area School board’s position on rebuilding the high school and also the five-year contract with the local teachers union. What does one do to stop a runaway train? Yell, “Stop!” No, that isn’t going to work. What will it take to get your heads out of the clouds and come back down to Earth?

You all are day dreaming about a magnificent new senior high school – a jewel in your administrative crown, so to speak.

Have you all lost your minds as well as your common sense on this matter, as well as the matter of the teachers’ contract for the next five years? The taxpayers simply cannot handle this outrageous burden. Is there no end in bleeding the taxpayers dry? Enough, already!

It seems that a few of the board members are trying to keep the insanity in check, such as Ken Meadows, Bill Rittenhouse, Ron Machesky and Dorothy Grahek. I applaud them – especially Ken Meadows who said, “I think we should probably rethink that building project.”

Your legacy as a school board should not be one of fiscal irresponsibility; rather it should be of pride as to how well the students were educated and what promising futures they will have.
