Lay off Larry Roberts, our only ‘real fighter’ in Harrisburg
I am very interested in your criticism of state Rep. Larry Roberts with his challenge of illegal stop signs in our area. Is it possible that the Herald-Standard supports local governments acting illegally for their own personal reasons? That’s what this stop sign issue is all about; criticizing Roberts while ignoring the law being broken for personal reasons. Regarding the stop signs, we know how the South Union Township supervisors view this matter, but why didn’t you report what PennDOT thinks about it?
On a different note, are you award that we can make a right turn at red lights today, only because the federal government realized how much gas was being wasted by cars needlessly sitting at red lights? With the cost of gas rising because of supply shortages, someone needs to be thinking about how much gas is being wasted at needless stop signs. Most cars can get twice as much gas mileage on highways than they do in stop-and-go situations. So why should we keep putting up more with more unnecessary stop signs at a time when gas supplies are dwindling? What is this most responsible thing to do?
Finally, Roberts is the only real fighter we have in Harrisburg and it appears that you want him unseated. I guess you will be happy to have him replaced by someone who goes to Harrisburg to collect a paycheck and do nothing that might appear to be controversial.
