Non-subscriber upset with story
As I write this letter my hand shakes with anger. I did not know Mark Kraynak, and I never will. I only know what I have read and heard. Let me start off by saying, as a parent, I will do anything to protect my children. It is what parents do. No matter what we find some sort of justification for every action our children make. With this being said the Herald-Standard recently published a article about Mark. You felt that is was important to include what he was supposedly doing when he disappeared in Canada. Rather than letting this man pass, you decided to try to rob him of his dignity as well. Facts or no facts, whatever this man chose as a career was no one’s business, no matter what the situation is. Maybe Mark’s family wanted some of the details regarding his death left personal. Every time something unfortunate happens to someone in this small town our local newspaper feels it is their responsibility to print all information, personal or not. And to think these families are the people who help pay for your paper by subscribing. I know personally I will never hold a subscription to the Uniontown Herald-Standard, ever. Before I conclude my letter, as you sit in the freedom of your home or wherever, know that the freedom you are enjoying is freedom Mark helped fight for. So that you and I can walk down the street with our heads held high because we are Americans. Mark was more of an American than most of our generation and to him I will always be thankful, for I have two small children who will grow up enjoying freedom and enjoy being an American because of brave, willing soldiers like Mark.
