Bus runs to Pittsburgh needed

1 min read

Recently, I needed to find transportation to the metropolitan area of Pittsburgh. I have driven to points outside of the Steel City with no problems. But I have never driven to the “heart” of Pittsburgh. In fact, it was never really my desire to drive in Pittsburgh. I have been there plenty of times to experience the traffic congestion, the conglomerate of people, honking horns and agitated motorists.

My preference is to “Let Greyhound do the driving.” However, the Greyhound Bus Lines no longer have a link in Uniontown. Their closest terminal is Greensburg. And they only have two buses Pittsburgh-bound, at 4:55 and 9:10 p.m. No morning routes are available.

I contacted a local taxicab company and their fares are $170 round trip from Uniontown to the Pittsburgh Bus Terminal. If one has an appointment in Pittsburgh, the cab driver will wait, but will charge 25 cents per minute.

My suggestion is to see affordable public transportation from Uniontown, the county seat of Fayette, to at least Pittsburgh. This might be asking for a little too much, but it should be explored by government officials to see if the possibility is feasible.
