Georges taxpayers get soaked
This letter is about Georges Township raising (doubling) our taxes. I would like to know what the township officials and township auditors did to save money? The auditors gave each roadmaster/supervisor a $15-per-day expense account for his car. The Georges Township taxpayers are paying this bill.
If we only have 70 miles of township roads, at 40 cents per mile they have to drive their vehicles approximately 40 miles per day to earn their $15. Each supervisor receives $15 daily whether he leaves the office or only drives a few miles.
If each roadmaster drives 40 miles (three times 40) that would give us a total of 120 miles traveled each day to earn their $15, and we only have 70 miles of township roads. It seems the auditors of Georges Township should not give the three Georges Township supervisors/roadmasters $15 per day for each vehicle.
Why can’t a supervisor/roadmaster ride in one of the big township trucks with the workers? Why can’t the three roadmasters ride together in one vehicle instead of using three separate vehicles? The auditors gave them large salaries, health care benefits and retirement plans second to none, and we the taxpayers have to pay for it.
Are the roadmaster/supervisors supposed to be on the job bossing the men? There are three roadmasters bossing six men. What is the job description for a roadmaster/supervisor? Why do we need three roadmaster/supervisors for only six workers?
