Mikita is the man

2 min read

A recent article in the paper noted that John Mikita, the Republican candidate for the seat in the 51st Legislative District being vacated by Rep. Larry Roberts, “has stressed the need for open records reform, as well as the need for a change to the state’s corporate tax.” In point of fact, Mikita has done more than just “stress the need” for such change. Mikita continues to champion open records reform, making it his top priority and vowing to “be a broken record until Pennsylvania has open records.”

Another key pillar of his platform is his plan to lower Pennsylvania’s corporate tax rate, which at the second-highest in the land at 9.9 percent is a job killer. Mikita understands that business owners know better than bureaucrats how to grow Pennsylvania’s economy.

Another one of his initiatives is to work to enact tough laws against predators who are depraved enough to harm women and children. Mikita believes the citizens of the 51st District deserve representation that makes top priorities of open records, lower taxes and tough laws against sexual predators.

Overall, Mikita has laid out a very ambitious agenda for Pennsylvania’s 51st District – one with which Republicans, Democrats, and Independents can agree. For the first time in many years, voters have the opportunity to take their government back with a candidate who, in the words of the Herald-Standard Editorial Board, is “credible and sincere.”

It would be a missed chance, indeed, if the citizens of the 51st District failed to embrace this unique opportunity to reclaim their government.
