DeWeese supporter way off base

3 min read

This is a response to the letter that appeared in the Herald-Standard on July 2, penned by Matt Miller. When I first read his letter I did not see a need to answer his attack against me, because I do not believe that Matt is qualified to defend state Rep. Howard William DeWeese. Matt began his second sentence with three words that I agree with. He said, quote, “I’m not sure.” He may not be sure, but I am sure of his motivation for defending Howard. I believe that Matt has a hidden agenda. Matt’s letter is typical to most of the ones that appear in your “letters to the editor” because if you know or investigate the writers, they all have got their hands in Howard’s pockets.

Also, Matt attacked my credentials as a clergy. He questioned my qualifications and my moral values as a reverend. Well let me tell you something Matt, I am who I say that I am. You and all of your comrades cannot take that away from me. Whether you like me or not doesn’t matter, because you did not ordain me, and you cannot defrock me.

I have been ordained an elder in the Episcopal Church, and I have ministered to thousands over many years. So I really don’t care what you think or say about my ministry, because you are not my boss. I will offer you this bit of wisdom; you should be very careful when you attack a man of God, because God says, touch not my anointed, and do my prophet no harm. Matt, why are you and your friends upset at me for the letter that I wrote on June 21? I ask you this question, but I already know the answer; and it is the truth hurts. Howard and his clan don’t like hearing the truth.

Matt, I found your letter to be very amusing in some parts, like next-to-the-last paragraph when you stated, quote, “Last, but not least, should the Democrats secure a majority in the November election, Bill DeWeese could very well be the next speaker of the House. Imagine what that would mean for our area.”

Well Matt, you should not have to imagine what that would mean for our area, because for the simple fact DeWeese has already been the Speaker of the House, and he didn’t do one thing to better our area. Oh, he may have let a few crumbs fall here and there. If you would like to know my reason for running against Howard a few years ago, it was not to win, but it was to give him a wake-up call to start working for the people of the 50 Legislative District.

I do not fear any man, I only fear God. Again, I say to the Herald Standard and Mr. Paul Sunyak, keep up the good work and keep reporting the truth, because the truth will set you free.
