Judge should appoint auditor
It seems strange that another auditor has left the auditing position in Georges Township. The last two auditors, Mr. Moats and Mr. Kelly, after being appointed, refused to run for this office. Now Mr. Eicher, another auditor, has resigned. This is a very important job in Georges Township. The Georges Township auditors not only audit the books but set salaries for the Georges Township supervisors/road masters. The auditors also give them other fringe benefits like insurance (health benefits, death, vision, prescription drugs, life and accident insurance). They set their pensions. They even set daily allowances for vehicle expenses. They set sick days, vacation days, holidays and personal days. They get to look at all accounts and funds.
I sure hope some taxpayers apply for this important Georges Township job. Don’t allow the Georges supervisor/road master to choose their boss. Otherwise it sure is a sweetheart deal – pick the person who selects salaries and all other benefits for you.
I think a Fayette County judge should appoint this position.
