Critic should meet with Mahoney

2 min read

I have always been a no-nonsense kind of guy and I have always trusted my gut instincts when it comes to judging a person’s character. A few weeks ago I read a letter from Bob Dunlevy; in this letter he referred to my good friend Tim Mahoney as a puppet. After I read the letter my thoughts were, “No way would Tim Mahoney be a puppet for anybody.

I have known Tim for several years and he and I are much alike, and I can tell you that I have never, nor will I ever, be a puppet for anybody.”

Based on the letter, I called Tim and my thoughts were confirmed. Tim told me that one of the reasons he got involved in politics was that he was tired of politicians saying one thing and doing another, and he does not operate that way.

He went on to explain that he does not know Bob Dunlevy and he can only assume that it was a political letter. Regardless of what motivated the letter, Tim said that he is a man of his word and that will continue because that is who he is.

The thing that upsets me is that this Dunlevy guy writes an opinion without even knowing the man he is writing about.

I had received a few calls from friends of mine from the Republic area and they told me that Mr. Dunlevy should not sling mud for others.

I do have one suggestion for Mr. Dunlevy: Call or meet with Tim and myself. I trust that after that call or meeting, you will see what I see, that Tim Mahoney is a man of character and a leader, and he will be one heck of a state representative.
