Bus route appreciated
I would like to thank Ms. Angela Zimmerlink and the Fayette County Commissioners for fulfilling my wishes to provide affordable public transportation for county residents to Pittsburgh. My original letter to the editor (“Bus runs to Pittsburgh needed”) was published Aug. 2 and asked that government officials explore the possibility that a bus route be implemented to provide residents without available transportation access to at least Pittsburgh.
No longer will Fayette citizens have to beg a neighbor or family member to take off a day of work to travel to the Steel City for a doctor’s appointment or visit a loved one in a hospital.
We will not have to wait for Greyhound or another corporate bus line to feel it is first financially rewarding before establishing a link in our city.
The proposed bus rates that FACT (Fayette Area Coordinated Transportation) will charge are very nominal.
Let us hope the prices will not increase, the six trips daily and the multiple stops along the route will continue indefinitely.
