Vote for change in Georges Twp.

2 min read

Georges Township voters are going to have a chance to elect a new Georges Township supervisor/roadmaster and an auditor that’s indebted to no one. The current administration doubled our property taxes and increased the occupational privilege by more than 500 percent. From reading the newspaper, the Georges Township supervisors/roadmasters had over $100,000 in surplus before raising our taxes.

They said, “We needed a much larger surplus in case of an emergency.” My golly, what kind of an emergency is the Georges Township supervisors thinking about, where they need over a $300,000 surplus?

Many citizens living in Georges Township are living on budgets with no surplus. If an emergency occurs, they go to the bank and get a loan. Why does Georges Township need that much surplus? In fact, I don’t need them banking my money in a Georges Township bank account. I want it in my own account so I can enjoy it now.

We need a new supervisor/roadmaster. One that is able to work with the men on the job. A supervisor/roadmaster who has intelligence and is able to physically work an eight-hour shift. Why deny a physically able person the job?

We have to have a supervisor/roadmaster who can produce and save money. We should have our taxes rolled back. There was no need for a tax increase in Georges Township.

No other township in Fayette County had to raise taxes. The other townships say they have more revenues coming in each year through the new buildings and earned income taxes.

Also every year they get more state monies. In Georges Township, the state liquid fuel monies have risen from $180,000 to over $200,000 in the last year alone.

We need a change in Georges Township. Vote in a new Georges Township supervisor/roadmaster and a new Georges Township auditor.
