Mahoney urged to press on
We saw state Rep. Tim Mahoney’s letter to the editor regarding Fayette County board appointments. We hope Mr. Mahoney writes some letters regarding the legislation that he has introduced in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. We are watching the cable television station that covers all of House of Representatives sessions and have not yet seen Mr. Tim Mahoney address his fellow representatives on any of the issues that we are concerned with in his 51st Legislative District. We want to hear about: 1. Making local municipalities and townships obey the Sunshine Laws, so taxpayers can see how their tax dollars are being spent. We should be able to see bank statements and other township documents.
2. Eliminating property taxes and replacing with sales tax.
3. Elimination of tax collectors. We do not need them. Georges Township recently doubled their tax collector’s salary.
4. Lowering the tax on gasoline and checking for correct measurements.
5. Term limits for elected office holders.
Mr. Mahoney, please write and let us know your progress on the above issues, and remember you’re not committed to any other politicians or political leaders. So do your job in Harrisburg.
We hope you keep your promise to the people of the 51st District and the state of Pennsylvania about updating the Open Records Law.
