Hillary Clinton just like GOP
Now that John Kerry has dropped out of the race for president, many consider Hillary Clinton to be the frontrunner to win the Democratic Party’s nomination. I personally don’t see much difference between her and Republicans. The Democrats should be presenting American voters with an option that’s different than what we have in our current president, who so happens to be a Republican.
What did Hillary Clinton once say about our current president, George Walker Bush? She said, “He made sure we got the resources that we needed, and I’m very grateful for that.”
In my opinion, Clinton is not the liberal that most people think she is. That’s why she has described herself as a “New Democrat” on several occasions.
Clinton has also said about former Mayor of New York City Rudy Giuliani (who is a Republican), “There ought to be a big-print disclosure that he agrees with many of the positions that I’ve advocated.”
What kind of positions could Clinton be talking about? Well, on several occasions, she has expressed her support for censorship. She has led a crusade to censor video games. She has also voted in favor of a bill backed by the Bush Administration that would “ban desecration of the American flag.”
Clinton has expressed support for welfare reform, which has made millions of Americans ineligible to receive government aid. She has also said that Democrats and Republicans should find “common ground” on the abortion issue.
Clinton has voted several times to extend free trade to various countries (such as Singapore, Chile, and Vietnam). Clinton has voted in favor of the PATRIOT Act, and also in favor of letting illegal aliens participate in Social Security. On top of that, she has voted in favor of loosening government restrictions on cell phone wiretapping. Clinton has tried to justify the war in Iraq on many occasions. For example, she has once said, “I have to tell you, I think they believed, as I believed, that there was, at the very least, residual weapons of mass destruction . . .”
I personally cannot understand why any liberal would want to support Hillary Clinton in her bid for president. I suppose that some would support her simply because she is a woman, but so is Condaleeza Rice. Where does Clinton stand on the issues? When I look at her, I don’t see much difference between her and a Republican.
