Dunbar supervisors questioned
I am writing this letter to inform the residents of Dunbar Township how their hard-earned tax dollars are being spent in the township. Recently two spineless township auditors, Mr. Joseph Kristobak and Mr. Donald Homer, voted to give the three supervisors a $1-per-hour raise. Only one auditor, who has a great deal of common sense, Mrs. Robin Leighty of Leisenring, had the backbone to say “no way.” Hat’s off to her. Our supervisors are now earning $19 per hour, or $39,520 per year, plus overtime. Let’s not forget $3,600 for the gas allowance and a $2,500 stipend for attending meetings, for a grand total of $45,620. This figure does not include the $105 per week that is contributed to their retirement, for a grand total of $315 per week for all three supervisors.
But as I can remember, when the supervisors were questioned about us having a spring and fall clean up, Mr. Thomas Yekel’s answer was, “We can’t do that, the township’s broke.”
They boast that they have not raised taxes in over 50 years, yet they failed to tell you that several months ago they placed a 5-percent increase on our cable bills. Perhaps this is where the money came from for their raises.
Mr. Ronald Keller, supervisor, roadmaster and secretary/treasurer, makes $45,620 plus overtime, plus 3 plus of all of the checks he writes, for a grand total of approximately $74,000. Wow, what a great deal for a township that is supposedly broke!
These guys remind me of the legislative pigs that forgot about the people they serve and voted themselves a pay raise in the dark of the night. We all remember what happened to them this past election day.
