Quad riders trespass too often

1 min read

In her letter to the editor, “Let Kids Ride Quads,” Ms. Colbert asked “parents to step up and speak out about the situation involving quad riders.” I have no problem with kids riding quads as long as they do it on their own property. It amazes me how many parents will buy one of these machines without considering where they children will be riding it.Ms. Colbert says that her boys ride the trails. There are no trails in our area. These pre-established paths that she calls trails can be scene everywhere, and are nothing more than scars on the land caused by trespassing ATV riders.

In addition, it is totally impossible to sit on one’s own patio and enjoy a warm summer’s evening, or to relax on a quiet Sunday morning because of the noise created by these deafening machines. It is never-ending.

I am not against kids having fun. However, it is not up to the property owners to be responsible for your child’s entertainment. Find a legitimate place for them to ride.
