We are writing to express our concerns about the windmill (turbine) project that we have been reading all about in your newspaper. We are concerned for the future of our county because these turbines are extremely tall and are really noticeable.

If these were to be the only turbines on our ridge tops forever, we guess, keeping in mind the concerns and safety issues to our residents affected, maybe this project wouldn’t be such a bad idea.

But we think our residents need to be aware that once our county accepts these and gives the companies the OK to build such a large structure, we have then opened the door to only more.

Maybe as a resident you are not affected at the moment but you maybe someday in the future. We are sure if you dig deep you will find it is not only one project, it’s just the beginning of many.

Every county, city or town has something special to offer. Ours here in Fayette County is our beautiful mountains and natural beauty. Let’s not destroy it. Move these turbines to not-so-attractive locations, we are sure you can find some.
