McCain scary as president

2 min read

As I woke up the other morning, the thought of John McCain becoming the next president was very disturbing. His position on the Iraq campaign has led me to believe that he will reinstitute the draft.

My nephew (along with many others) is serving his third tour in Iraq. This tells me that the soldiers are being overused.

As I see it, two alternatives exist: bring the soldiers home or institute the draft. Barack Obama wants to bring the soldiers home and McCain wants to keep them there indefinitely.

The Australians have brought 500 of their troops home while there has been a surge in American troops.

Pennsylvanians, and the rest of the country, need to seriously consider which candidate’s position we prefer when we vote in November.

The next president will have to do something to give the soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq much-needed time away from the war zone to offset the fatigue, which is causing mental breakdowns and a rise in suicides.

I suspect McCain feels that the only solution to an overextended military is for him to start drafting our young boys and girls.

I have two teenagers who just completed their first year in college. The prospects of them being drafted to continue the Bush/McCain war is disturbing, to say the least.

Obama will get my vote – for the sake of my children, relatives, friends, and fellow countrymen.

I hope you’ll vote the same. A vote against McCain is a vote against the draft.
