Citizens should be heard

1 min read

This letter is in response to the letter from state’s employee, Katherine McGinty, head of the Department of Environmental Protection. The public was kept quiet in the first “public” hearing the DEP held on the Curry Mine near Dunbar. The DEP does not want to hear from us, the people, so it set up a format that would keep people quiet and not allow them to share information and opinions with each other. Letting people speak while shut up alone in a room is not a public hearing.

We sincerely request a real public hearing, where information is aired publicly, on this Curry Mine. We believe the mine is a danger to the Youghiogheny River and everyone who uses it for recreation or drinking water. We believe the citizens have a right to be heard and to have their questions answered in a public format.
