PIAA slammed for politics, greed

2 min read

Just a brief comment on the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association and their inappropriate decisions and lack of responses. How would one feel getting a letter from Mr. Bradley Cashman, executive director, on Christmas Eve 2007 that your softball charter has been revoked because of lack of active umpires?

Well, trust me, it happened. No time element here to secure new active members; only transfer to another chapter or else.

I called several times for Mr. Cashman and even wrote him two letters without even a response. Why?

After officiating four PIAA high school sports for over 25 years, am I not entitled to a response to my inquiry?

At age 66, I’m not transferring to another PIAA chapter. I’ll make their office very happy and just retire from all four sports.

You send state dues in yearly and do they say thank you or show any appreciation? No.

I’m sick of all the politics and greed that originate out of their state office. Do not get me wrong, I met great people over my tenure and it was for the kids, right? At least that’s what I always thought. Obviously, the PIAA state office only thinks of themselves.

Goodbye and good riddance. Thanks for your support and lack thereof.
