Hospital system lacking
Uniontown Hospital’s Hopwood blood unit had a beautiful office with no steps and great parking. Well, they closed it. What a waste. My doctor ordered blood work. I went to the new diagnostic center. The lot was full, but I found a parking space almost by WalMart. I went inside to take a number. Mine was 100, and they were on 80. As you know, you have to fast for blood work, and I am a diabetic. I did not eat or drink for 12 hours. Now I had to wait two hours for my turn. Well, I did not stay. I went to the Uniontown Hospital. When I arrived, there were no parking spaces, so I rode around for awhile before finally finding a space. I went into the hospital and the registration office was full. You need a number there, too. Mine was 73 and they were on 65, so that wasn’t too bad. I went upstairs and there was a floor full of people waiting for blood work. Many of these people were elderly people, but no matter what age, no one should go through a day like this just for blood work.
Many people didn’t know about the Hopwood Unit, but it was great, especially for the mountain people. I urge Uniontown Hospital to either get a better system for people who need blood work done or open up the Hopwood office again.
