Seniors need help
Did you receive your property tax assessment? Were you shocked? I know I was. I also do not believe that this latest assessment will not translate into higher property taxes somewhere down the line. Ask yourself can we continue to pay more when the greater percentages of us seniors are on fixed incomes. We need to contact our local and state government officials to step in and give us a property tax freeze for people over 65.
There are several states that offer this, Illinois being one of them. I know first hand because I lived in Illinois for approximately 60 years prior to moving to Pennsylvania. I currently have a sister who lives in the Chicago area, and she benefits from this break. She would have had to give up her home of 30 years plus if it were not for this legislation.
We as seniors have to unite and contact our political officials to listen to our survival needs. Ask yourself this question. Do you want to be forced from your home because you cannot pay your property taxes? Wake up seniors, it’s time to act.
