Wagon train coming
Soon the National Pike Wagon Train Association will once again be making its annual trek from Grantsville, Md., to Uniontown.
This will be the 38th year that the wagon train has traveled this 42-mile stretch of Route 40. It seems amazing that it is still happening after all these years.
We gather on Wednesday, May 18 in Grantsville and travel starts Thursday morning, May 19, finishing Sunday with worship services at Mount Saint Macrina.
Overnight stops along the way include Addison on Thursday night, Nemacolin Woodlands Polo Field on Friday night, and the final overnight destination at Mount Macrina on Saturday night.
Have you ever wondered how you can become involved in the actual Wagon Train?
Are you interested in riding your horse, bringing your covered wagon or maybe you just want to walk the pike like many of our ancestors did all those years ago?
E-mail us! at NationalPikeWagonTrain@yahoo.com or find us on Face book at NationalPike WagonTrain, and we will fill you in on the details and send you a registration form.
Would you like to help sponsor the National Pike Wagon Train that brings many people to your communities to visit? You can help so many ways.
Donations are always needed to help pay for the insurance, the port-a-potties and the food each year. These are items that need funded every year.
Did you know it cost over $5000.00 each year just to begin the trek?
