America losing its way
Since it brought the nation to the brink of economic disaster, Congress followed through on doing what it had to: approving an eleventh-hour increase in the debt limit coupled with deficit reduction that we are told will exceed the amount by which the ceiling was lifted.
Those who are now carping about the imperfect nature of the agreement as they engage in more partisan hatred and warfare should recognize that it is they and their 534 comrades in the House and Senate who brought us to the point at which fast action was essential at all costs. For some to now refer to what their opponents were able to achieve as Satanic is beyond the pale and disgraceful.
What is the explanation of those who voted against the bill? It could only have been that if they did not get their way, they would let the nation collapse into default. Such gross irresponsibility is not worthy of the most influential individuals in our nation. How would default have been better than the provisions of the legislation which passed, which at least buys our entitlement-addicted/spendthrift leaders some time to get their crumbling house in order?
It is a sad day for our nation, one which is rightfully seen in the eyes of the world as a ship of fools. Those of us who are patriots should weep for America. She has lost her way.
