Woman leaves legacy
For three years now my wife and I have known a couple in this area who both were struggling with cancer.
Recently the dear wife was suddenly called home to God, We always noticed how their children lovingly and tirelessly cared for their parents through countless serious medical crises.
At the funeral we met the grandchildren and saw their grief and heard the memories which brought tears at the passing away of their beloved grandmother. But what a wonderful witness for all who knew her. Here was a wife who with her husband had made a family, a loving home for their children and grandchildren,
Even neighbors and strangers were welcomed and loved in their house. Now those left behind have their childhood memories with Nana to give them strength for their lives, despite their loss. Her creative impulse produced countless gifts for anyone who needed her encouragement or joy.
Through an active faith in Christ this couple has passed on to their children and many others what God intended all along, when he gave a help-mate to Adam.
I wonder how many times they had to forgive each other and find new joy through the 54 years. The pastor testified that anyone who knew this sister must also have had a “run-in” with her, but then it was quickly forgiven to move on in life.
My heart goes out to the many widows and widowers and those standing by their spouse in sickness or old age. This comes as an example and encouragement to say that God is with you and Jesus’ love will uphold you each day.
