Zimmerlink defended
I was both astounded and appalled after reading Neil Brown’s letter to the editor in the Nov. 25 edition of the Herald-Standard.
Had Mr. Brown done his homework before making his inane and petty accusations, he would have found that Mrs. Zimmerlink has been the one county commissioner most available to the public which she serves. I can’t remember any commissioner, past or present, more available.
As a candidate who’s election is in question, she has a right to be an observer at the vote-counting process. Especially so, when one member of the election board could be biased against her.
She has a lawsuit pending that names Commissioner Vince Vicites as a defendant and he is a member of the election board. He should have excused himself from this obligation because of the obvious perceptions of bias. However, he chose to participate in the process. Therefore, anyone with any common sense would be stupid not to be present when their future is in doubt.
I can’t help but wonder why Mr. Brown was not upset when Mr. Vicites was conspicuous by his absence for at least a week after losing his bid for nomination for state representative to Mr. Mahoney and repeated behavior after his loss in the primary past. Why is it bad for the goose and not the gander?
