Questions raised
How many public schools are in Pennsylvania?
That was a question asked at a recent meeting I attended. Several shoutouts were given and then the question was asked again.
“How many public schools are there in Pennsylvania?” The answer was given that there are over 3,000 public schools in Pennsylvania.
News from Harrisburg would have you believe that our commonwealth has many failing schools. The reality is that less than 150, (144 exactly) have been identified as struggling.
Why were the public schools the target of huge budget cuts? Why were the schools with the highest poverty levels targeted with the largest budget cuts?
These are questions our governor and legislature will need to answer.
