Do you know Jesus?

3 min read

Would you know Jesus if he was standing right beside you?

I will go out on a limb and answer that for you. I doubt it. One more question. If you were to pray for a miracle and it happened immediately, would you think it was Jesus who delivered you?

Once again I will answer for you. I doubt it. You see, people haven’t changed in regard to the faith that we proclaim to have in Jesus, and I will prove it, or at least present two arguments to support my case.

First example comes from Luke chapter 24 verses 13 through 32. Some of you know the account.

Two men were walking on their way to Emmaus, and as they were talking about Christ’s Crucifixion, Jesus came up and walked beside them, and he asked them what they were talking about, as they told him, they did not recognize him.

Jesus became upset with them because they knew he was crucified but they didn’t know why. To make a long story short, he spent the rest of the day with them and told them that he came into this world as a perfect sacrifice for the sole purpose of dying for us so we would not perish, but have everlasting life. And when he had broken bread with them they recognized him. Verses 30-31.

About four or five years ago I was in church at Faith Assembly of God in Uniontown. I was sitting at the soundboard which is located at the rear of the sanctuary where you walk in from the foyer.

I had pretty much a birds-eye view of what went on. If it went on I saw it. There were probably a few hundred people there. It was the first service. All of a sudden I noticed a gentleman grabbing his throat. He appeared to be choking only I couldn’t hear him. He then slumped over.

There just happened to be a doctor and nurse present. The doctor ran over to him and began CPR. The gentleman laid there as gray as a ghost. The doctor then said, “he’s gone.”

The pastor very calmly walked from behind the pulpit down to the gentleman and said a short prayer. I have no idea what he prayed but it worked. He then came back and by that time the ambulance had gotten there and we just stood there.

They took him to Uniontown Hospital and checked him out. But they couldn’t find anything wrong. He was on some sort of eye drops and they said it could have been a reaction.

The only thing I know is this. This guy died in front of about 200 people and come back to life after a short prayer and we never praised Jesus or thanked him. You see, we treat our Lord the same as back then, maybe worse.
