God has a special place for misfits
Imagine that I am holding a piece of wood.
This is just one of many that I have left over from a deck that I built on my house. There are many sizes and shapes, some short, some long, and some are cut at different angles. In other words, none of them are the same, so they are scrap. Would you agree? Well, you’re wrong!
Ladies, you will have to bear with me for just a few minutes, because this is a guy thing. It is almost impossible for us to throw these away because they are so versatile to us. Unlike the boards that were all cut the same length, these scraps can be used for just about anything we want them to be, such as cribbing, bracing and fillers. The possiblities are endless. These misfits are part of the same tree as the deck boards are on my house.
Translation: The misfits as well as the rest of the world are all God’s creation. You may have come from a different tree, but God created that tree. While some trees may stand and look magnificent, they are not a misfit by the world’s standard.
Every limb is perfect, like the deck boards, or Christians for that one hour a week sit-in church. They are spiritually sick, but they look good. This Christian bears no fruit. Now this other tree or misfit isn’t so pretty by the world’s standard, but it bears so much fruit that its limbs are almost touching the ground.
If you are a misfit, you are the one God is looking for. He can use you to do things you never thought were possible. You are versatile because you are willing to let him use you anyway he chooses.
Believe me, you will reap what you sow, and one day you will hear our savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, say to you the seven words that I look forward to hear ing him say the most, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
But before all of this can happen, you must give your life to him. It is so simple. Repent and ask him into your heart so he can be your personal savior.
Most of you know the Herald-Standard is seeking your love letters as Valentine’s Day nears. This is not the type of love letter they are talking about. They want romance. I am talking about an unconditional love that cannot be explained. It is impossible.
However, some have experienced it, and like I said, words cannot explain it. We are all loved the same by God. He shows no favoritism. We are supposed to love our neighbor as ourselves. Do you?
