Vicites praised
One of the best commissioners of this county has had in a long time was not re-elected in the primary election in May.
Vince Vicites has worked tirelessly on the budget mostly by himself for his 16 years in office often late at night.
Vince Vicites had enough strength to get a reassessment of properties that was not done for almost 50 years. The county was operating in the red for the longest time and Vince knew it was not a popular decision. Yes, he made the tough choices although he knew it would hurt his chances for re-election and he knew it would have to be done. He cared about this county.
Vince Vicites in his 16 years in office as commissioner has raised over $100 million for various projects for Fayette County, more than any other commissioner, he also pushed for the Mon-Fayette Expressway. Although he worked so hard for us he has been bashed by the naysayers in the papers, radio, internet bloggers, etc. Unknown by the voting public, some of the bashers were even convicted criminals.
Vince Vicites has served the public within the law, and surely if he would have done wrong, he would have been exposed and prosecuted.
I have known Vince since his childhood, and I know since he has been in office, he has made decisions according to the letter of the law. Vince Vicites is very well respected in Harrisburg, Pa., and Washington, D.C., by Democrats and Republicans as well. He will be sorely missed by Fayette County.
