Flooding a major concern

1 min read

I, as many others in in the area, are victims of flooding in the Masontown Borough.

I am hard pressed to understand why the borough council can finance over $800,000 to rentovate a new borough building that benefits only a select few, but refuse to aquire funding to repair its aging infrastructure.

Their answer is always “There are no funds available”.

The last time it flooded, the water flowing directly in front of my home on Commercial Avenue, was over 120 feet wide and over two feet deep at its deepest point. And it was most likely contaminated due to the aging sewage system in our small town.

PennDOT and the state Department of Environmental Resources were both notified of the issue, but I believe borough council understates the true extent of the flooding we see now on a regular basis.

Council also knows that most of the people involved can not afford an attorney so the matter keeps getting pushed aside.

Any help with his matter would be greatly appreciated.
