A grand jury has been formed to look into various crimes in Fayette County. Do you think it will help to lower the county’s high crime rate?

“I think it can only help. My prayers are with those who have a concern for Fayette County and hope they can fight crime. It is surely needed.”

“If there was something to kind of push my generation to do something with their lives, like go to college, instead of sitting around getting high, things would be much better. I feel that some people just need a little push to get them started in the right direction. So maybe instead of our community building fancy restaurants, they should focus on motivating the younger generation so one day Fayette County will be a nicer place.”

“One of the reasons that people live here is because it’s cheap! I know a lot of people who went on to get a higher education and who don’t get high all day, and they still struggle. It’s not the county’s fault. It’s the people. So, maybe instead of pointing fingers and judging everyone, how about doing something about it?”

Do you think that the Marcellus shale industry has been good overall for the area.

“Clean energy production, such as windmills, requires entire mountainside landscapes to be destroyed. Coal production, steel production and our beloved oil/fuel production all cause some type of environmental effect. However, they are all necessary to survive. Guess what else is necessary to survive? Jobs! Especially in Fayette County!”

“Violations and water contamination are two different things. What I can say is that every time an inspector shows up at any job site, there will probably be a violation of some sort. This happens in most industrial situations, not just oil and gas.”

“We cannot continue to be dependent on the Mideast for our energy. We need to take advantage of this natural gas resource by using the best technology available to us in the safest manner possible. That is exactly what the gas exploration and production companies are working so hard to achieve!”
