Why do taxes have to keep going up and up?

By Brian Oros 2 min read

Let’s talk about taxes.

If you are a homeowner or a middle-income family or a small business owner, we all know about taxes because we are being taxed to death.

We have people in this country who work very hard to own a home, and they are being taxed right out of it. The biggest tax of all is school tax. Our school boards tell us that it is all about construction costs. They tell us our children can’t learn unless they are in a $50 million school. They are just like the Pittsburgh Pirates who said give me $100 million of taxpayer’s money, build us a stadium, and we can win ball games.

The funny thing is that they don’t win a game. The school boards never tell us the cost of salaries, medical costs, the $100 dollar per day for sick days, all the perks and pension debt.

Let’s take a look at our elected officials, both local and state.

They like giving free taxes to their business friends and to people who donate to their campaigns, but whenever there is a shortfall in tax revenue, they hit the working man and woman with higher taxes.

The government then takes our tax dollars — and I mean millions and millions of dollars — and gives it to private companies, they say, to create jobs.

That is a laugh because our own government said in study after study this this works only 20 percent of the time. If you want to create jobs, cut taxes for small businesses and homeowners, then the people have money to spend at different places.

This all has me thinking about the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Section 8 says “The credit of the Commonwealth shall not be pledged or loaned to any individual, company, corporation or association.”

The truth must hurt for government and local election officials because they break the law every day. You and I must abide by the laws. Let’s remind these elected officials and hope they don’t loose their homes because of high taxes.
