Honesty still valued

2 min read

Here’s an inspirational story to let others that are still hard-working honest people still choosing to do the right thing.

On Aug. 30, my brother Darryl Tewell was on a TV-service call in the mountains and stopped for gasoline, when he found a wad of money rolled up in a rubber band on the ground.

He went into the station to ask the clerk if anyone came in to say they lost it. No one did, so he decided to stick around for awhile to see if anyone returned. It wasn’t a long wait. A young man came in the lot, got out of his truck looking all around.

My brother went out to ask if he lost something. Yes, he replied, “I lost money.” Darryl asked how much, and right to the penny he told him. Darryl said it’s your lucky day and handed him all of it. The man offered a reward, but Darryl said no.

Darryl told him if one day you find something of value and it’s not yours to try and make someone’s day just like he did.

So as you can see, I am so proud of my brother for his kindness and honesty. Our parents did a great job raising five honest and kind children, and I’m happy to say they recently celebrated their 62nd anniversary. I’m proud to be a member of the The Alfred H. Tewell family in Meadowbrook.
